I was her student for 3 yrs. Yes, I remember some of her classes but mostly her beautiful bracelets and snappy dressing. She was a fashion icon! Sorry for your loss. Her style and intelligence will always be remembered.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Harvey family. Miss Harvey was a wonderful teacher and staff member of SRCS. She was definitely one of the greatest educators that Salmon River ever had and she made learning and understanding history fun and interesting. I never knew the totality of her life experiences and travels, but she certainly did lead an exciting and adventurous life! So very sorry for your loss.

I have such wonderful memories of Miss Harvey. She instilled in me such a great love for history. I have always been a proud Canadian and when I brought the new Canadian flag into her classroom, she promised to fly it under the US flag as long as she had Canadian students. She always asked for my Canadian perspective and encouraged others in our class to learn more about Canada. Her encouragement to follow current events has stayed with me to this day. May this lovely lady rest in peace after her long and busy life.

The world has lost another light. Eunice Harvey was the consummate teacher who served as a role model & mentor for many of her students. I was privileged to have had her for three years in high school. She was intelligent, articulate, cultured, & thought provoking without being condescending & intimidating. She was also the teacher that everyone wanted to spend time with. It was in her room where students gathered to discuss anything & everything. In the late 60's, it was the Vietnam War, student protests, Aretha Franklin's "Respect", & the funny & controversial "Smothers Brothers' Show". During college breaks, we would often visit her in her lovely home to update her on our recent academic & personal experiences. She had a way of guiding & instructing us without lecturing, to let us realize our potential & promise. I was fortunate to have continued the teacher/student relationship throughout my life. I am proud to call her a friend, & I would often visit on return trips home. She was important enough that I brought my husband &, later, my daughter to meet this woman who was so integral to my education & development. Aside from my parents, who remain my first & best teachers, Eunice Harvey was the most important influence on my early academic life. She gave selflessly to her family & her students, and her community as well. She will be missed, but not forgotten. In the book "Tuesdays with Morrie", a story of the impact a brilliant, college professor had on one of his students, Mitch Album, the author & student in the book, asks us if we have ever had a teacher like this. I can answer "Yes". Mary Perry Yester, Class of 1969.

As Hale Harvey’s former neighbor on the River Road, I have many fond memories of Eunice. Hale thought the world of Eunice and shared many stories with me of the Harvey family. I, too, thought very highly of Eunice and enjoyed our times together.
My condolences, thoughts and prayers are with Jackie and the entire family. I still think of you all often.
Love, Carla

Eunice will always be known as a dedicated teacher, a lover of good fun and good humor, a church congregation and community leader and a strong supporter of both. Intelligent, witty, caring, committed to any endeavor she undertook, Eunice conveyed to students that she enjoyed teaching and that helped bring out the best in learners. She was tough and she was fair -- two aspects of teaching which are not always evident together.
During my high school years at SRCS, she advised the Future Teachers of America club, accompanying members to district meetings, helping with fundraising and encouraging and supporting us in efforts to serve as FTA district officers, something which actually ended up being more work for her. She wholeheartedly encouraged and took pride in the achievements and clearly enjoyed following up on the growth of students years after they had left her classroom.
I am privileged to have had her as a role model. My sincerest condolences to her family and her friends.

My deepest condolences to the family of Ms. Harvey. I was one of her many students at Salmon, years ago. She was a tough one but she was a good teacher. You either hated the class or you loved it. I was in the middle and she is the reason I passed and learned. She was a friendly teacher that expected you to perform to your potential. And you didn't want to let her down. I think she was the only teacher who actually asked me why I missed her class. She will always remain as part of my fond teen memories. Her humor helped learning history a little easier. RIP Miss Harvey, I'm sure the Creator is waiting for you with open arms!

As a student, if you are fortunate in your schooling, you will have a teacher who inspires you to try to accomplish great things, to affirm that you are on the right path and have the ability to succeed.
Ms. Harvey was that person.
As my 11th grade social studies teacher in 1973, it always seemed to me that Ms. Harvey had a depth of knowledge not only of the subject matter, but of so much more. Even though she effortlessly connected to us, to me it was like a concert pianist teaching a new music student who is eager to learn, but can only play “Chopsticks”.
Later in life I had a chance to have real conversations with Ms. Harvey. What impressed me is that, in addition to being an accomplished educator, she had an ability to converse on so many topics and a humility that made those in her presence comfortable. Once, in response to a question about whether she liked opera, Ms. Harvey’s initial response was negative; but before the questioner could silently dismiss Ms. Harvey as not quite “cultured”, she continued by naming several operas she had attended behind the Iron Curtain (in Prague and Warsaw, I believe) and what about the productions she had found lacking. To me, this was typical of Ms. Harvey. She carried herself with class and dignity, and though well-traveled and educated, was aware of others’ sensibilities.
Thank you Ms. Harvey. Rest in Peace.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Ms. Harvey. She was a remarkable lady and a great teacher. She made every class a learning experience and did so in a very special way by keeping everyone focused on what she was teaching. Ms. Harvey taught me for three years in World History, American History, and Government studies. I do remember spending lots of time in her classroom just talking about many interesting topics. She was always available to chat.
You were my favorite teacher Ms. Harvey and may you rest in peace and thank you for all you did for me and for many others!
Sincerely,
Marc
