Obituary of Thomas A. Petell
Thomas A. Petell, 52, of Orange City FL., and formerly of Westville, NY., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 4, 2018, while visiting his parents and family in Westville.
Born in Huntingdon, Quebec, December 16, 1965, he is the son of Paul J. and Leona Dumas Petell. He graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, NY., in 1984. While in high school, he was a member of the wrestling team.
In 1999, he was united in marriage to the former Tracie I. Tucker. The marriage ended in divorce and she survives.
Many years ago, Tom was employed by the Donald Dumas and also the Stuart Brand dairy farms in Malone. He later was employed by Midstate Roofing Company in Albany, NY., and lastly for Claflins Painting Company in Clifton Park, NY., for nine years. He retired in 2012, because of his health.
Tom was an avid NASCAR and football fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors in the North Country. He loved family gatherings and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Survivors include his parents, Paul J. and Leona Petell of Westville, NY., two daughters, Nikkita Petell and her partner, Tia Jones of Moira, NY., and Jennifer Petell and her companion Brandon Smith of Lake Placid, NY., one stepdaughter, Tiffany Tucker of Brushton, NY., three brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Terry Petell of East Greenbush, NY., Richard and Doris Petell of Brushton, NY., and Paul and Paula Petell of Niskayuna, NY., two sisters, Wanda Trombley of Malone, NY., and Tammy Stapleton of Florence, SC., a brother-in-law, O.J. Stapleton of Burke, NY., one granddaughter, Ahnna Mae Smith of Lake Placid, NY., three step grandchildren, Brian and Abel Richards and Brentley Tucker all of Moira and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Constable, NY.
