Obituary of Cheryl L. Patterson

Cheryl L. Patterson, 72, of Malone, NY., passed away peacefully, Wednesday afternoon, July 18, 2018, at her home, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.

Born in Malone, NY., April 3, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret Sancomb Dumas. She graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, NY, in 1961.

On October 26, 1963, she was united in marriage to Dale I. Patterson, at Notre Dame Church in Malone, NY. He survives.

Along with Dale, they owned and operated Dale’s Mobil Gas Station and later Dale’s Discount Auto in Malone. She later was employed by Franklin County Manpower. Lastly, she was employed by Malone Central Schools as a teachers aide. She retired in 2013.

Cheryl was a communicant of Notre Dame Church, in Malone and later St. George’s Church, in Burke, NY. For more than twenty years, Cheryl has been very involved with Holiday Helpers-Toys for Tots. She has also been a long time volunteer for the Malone and Burke Volunteer Fire Departments. She enjoyed reading and attending to her beautiful flower gardens. Her favorite times were spent with Dale, her children, grandchildren and family. Cheryl was always ready to volunteer her time and talents to help anyone in the community.

Along with her husband, Dale, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Heath and Dawn Patterson of Brushton, NY., two daughters and a son-in-law, Candace and Glenn Gadway and Bobbi-Jo Patterson-Wood and her companion, Michael Sorell all of Malone, NY., one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph “Sonny” and Joanne Dumas of Malone, NY., one sister, Joanne Dermody of Morrisonville, NY., seven grandchildren, Jessica, Jocelyn and Shelby Gadway, Kayla and Brittany Patterson and Kyle and Raechel Wood and one great granddaughter, Shaye Swiderski.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Jason Patterson at birth in 1974, and one sister, Joyce Perusse.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11 a.m., at St. George’s Church, in Burke, NY.
