Obituary of Rita Anne Tripeny

Rita Anne Tripeny, 86, of St. Regis Falls, NY., passed away Sunday morning, August 5, 2018, at the St. Regis Nursing Home, in Massena, NY. She had been a resident there since April 28, 2017.

Born in Malone, NY., October 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ernest C. and Geraldine H. Ward Tripeny. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, in Malone, NY. She received her Bachelors Degree in History and English from the College of St. Rose in Albany., NY., and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY.

Rita was a Secondary School Guidance Counselor and Social Studies teacher at Brasher Falls Central School, for many years. She also served as Chairman of the Social Studies Department.

She was a member of the New York State Teachers Association, St. Lawrence Central Retired Teachers Association, and the St. Regis Falls Sportsman Club. Rita was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church, in St. Regis Falls, and also served as a Eucharistic Lay Minister and Lector. She was a volunteer and also served as secretary and treasurer for the St. Regis Falls Fire District.

She is survived by several cousins.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Cornelius J. Tripeny and E. John Tripeny.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, in St. Regis Falls, NY., with the Rev. Alfred Fish officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, in St. Regis Falls, NY.

Donations may be made in her memory to St. Ann’s Church.
