Lillian S. Rule, 84, of Malone, NY., passed away Sunday morning, October 7, 2018, at the Alice Center, in Malone.

Born in Brushton, NY., November 9, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Elvira Hutchins Sweet. She graduated from Franklin Academy, in Malone, in 1952.

On September 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Donald H. Rule, at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, NY. He predeceased her on January 12, 1999.

Lillian was a legal secretary for the Main, Pond and Main Law Firm for many years. She later was employed by Judge Robert G. Main, Sr. She retired in 1972.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Malone. She was a member of the Malone American Legion Auxiliary and the Malone Ladies of the Elks. She enjoyed crocheting and bowling in the Malone Leagues for many years.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Lisa Rule of Port St. Lucie, FL., three grandchildren, Josh, Graham and Colin Rule and two great granddaughters, Briana and Helena Rule, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Scott Rule on March 19, 2001, three brothers, Kenneth, Daniel and Harvey Sweet and four sisters, Barbara Brooks, Delma Bower, Edith Gary and Agnes Southworth.

There are no calling hours. A Graveside Service and burial will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018, at 11 a.m., at Notre Dame Cemetery, in Malone, NY.

Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
