Obituary of Dorothy Rose Elliott

Dorothy R. Elliott, 91, of Malone, NY., passed away early Sunday morning, February 23, 2020, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gary Pecore in Massena, NY., while under their loving care and Hospice of St. Lawrence County.
Born in Joliet, IL., March 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Helen Kowalski Mikula.
She was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, NY. She enjoyed gardening and had beautiful flower gardens surrounding her home. She also enjoyed quilting, scrap booking, puzzles, decorating her home for the holidays, preparing her Polish family recipes and traveling to thirty five states with her husband.
On December 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Stanley M. Elliott in Joliet, IL. He predeceased her on April 1, 2011. Dorothy loved and cared for her husband throughout their entire marriage.
In addition to being a homemaker, she took care of her disabled husband Stanley, who was hurt in the Korean War. She also assisted him in managing his news stand business that he operated for nearly twenty years. Together they raised four children.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Carol Elliott of Peru, NY., and Timothy and Rosella Elliott of Latham, NY., two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Gary Pecore of Massena, NY., and Diane Elliott of Naugatuck, CT., one sister, Clara Weiss of Joliet, IL, nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 until 7 pm. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, NY. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, in Malone.
