Robert J. “Bob” Chapman, 75, of Fort Covington, NY., passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 25, 2020, at the Alice Center, in Malone, NY., surrounded by his loving wife and family. He had been under the care of the nursing home and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.
Born in Malone, NY., November 14, 1944, he was the son of the late W. Adams and Elsie Derouchie Chapman. He graduated from Salmon River High School in 1963.
Bob was a dairy farmer his entire working career and owned and operated a large dairy farm in Fort Covington.
He was proud of his Dairy of Distinction Award. He enjoyed camping, cutting firewood, woodworking, attending tractor pulls and road trips with his wife.
On November 6, 1965, he was united in marriage to the former Sherrielle A. Smith at St. Mary’s Church, in Fort Covington, NY. She survives.
Along with his wife, Sherrielle, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Tommy Phillips of Fort Covington, NY., two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald and Faylene Chapman and James “Chuck” Chapman all of Fort Covington, NY., two grandsons, Colby and Owen Phillips and two great grandsons, Keagan and Kadyn Phillips.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, William and Burton Chapman.
Calling hours will be Friday March 6, 2020, from 10 a.m. until Noon, at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home, in Fort Covington, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at Noon in the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Bond officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, in Fort Covington, NY., in the spring.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Fort Covington Volunteer Fire Department or E.M.S. or to the Alice Ballard Fund of Hospice of the North Country, Inc., in Malone, NY.
