Loren D. Mainville, 65, of Fort Covington, NY, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 17, 2010, at C.V.P.H., in Plattsburgh, NY, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He had been a patient there since September 12. Born in Malone, NY, November 4, 1954, he was the son of the late John and Gladys LaRuche Mainville. He graduated from Salmon River Central School, in Fort Covington, in 1974 and attended two years of carpentry trade school. Many years ago, Loren was employed by the Plattsburgh Carpenters Union Local. He later was employed by General Motors in Massena, NY, for more than twenty five years. For the past ten years, he was employed by the Town of Fort Covington for the maintenance of Rainbow Park. A job that he truly loved and enjoyed, for the enjoyment of the children of the community. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, in Fort Covington and a long time member of the Fort Covington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. For more than twenty five years Loren coached Youth Hockey. He loved the Fort Covington community and was a volunteer at the food pantry and constructed Veterans Field. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at their camp at Fraser Pointe on the St. Lawrence River. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His “best friend” was his hammer and Loren was well known for his expert craftsmanship on anything he built. On August 27, 1977, he was united in marriage to the former Dawn M. Avery, at St. Mary’s Church, in Fort Covington, NY. She survives. Along with his wife Dawn, he is survived by one son, Joel Mainville and his companion, Alicia Beach of Fort Covington, NY, one daughter and son-in-law, Aimee and Jose Lorenzo of Malone, NY, one sister, Pansy Perry of Fort Covington, NY, two sisters-in-law: Sandra Mainville of Malone, NY, and Diane Mainville of Fort Covington, NY, four grandchildren, Camryn Johnson, Madalyn and Marie LaShomb and Adrian Lorenzo, two brothers -in-law: Todd Avery and his wife, Karen and Dale Avery and his wife, Penny, all of Brushton, NY, two sisters-in-law: Gen Carter and her husband, Stuart and Shelly Phillips and her husband, Terry of Fort Covington, NY, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers: Gayle, Arnold and Neiland Mainville, one sister, Carleen Burditt and his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Shirley Avery. There are no calling hours, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Noon, at St. Mary’s Church, in Fort Covington, NY, with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Donations may be made in his memory to the Fort Covington Volunteer Fire Department or E.M.S.
