Obituary of James F. LaBrake

James F. LaBrake, 57, of Brandon, NY, passed away early Thursday morning, May 13, 2021, at C.V.P.H. in Plattsburgh, NY. He had been a patient there since May 2. Born in Malone, NY, July 9, 1963, he was the son of Charles and Gertrude Bashaw LaBrake, Sr. He graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, in 1981. He was married to the former Cynthia Vivlamore. The marriage ended many years ago. Many years ago, James was employed by Ward Lumber as a skidder operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow sledding and spending time with his friends and family. Survivors include, his parents, Charles and Gertrude LaBrake, Sr. of Malone, NY; his longtime companion, Theresa Johnston of Brandon, NY; two stepsons, Robert Johnston and his wife, Ashley of Ellenburg, NY, and Devon Johnston of Brandon, NY; one step daughter, Samantha Johnston of Parishville, NY; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles and Kari LaBrake, Jr of Malone, NY, and John and Wade LaBrake both of Constable, NY, four sisters and a brother-in-law, Shelia and Robert Gardner of Bellmont, NY, Melissa Lane of Malone, NY, and Helen Scidmore and Rose LaBrake both of California; eight step grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Bryant LaBrake. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 48 Harrison Place, Malone, NY. with the Rev. Roger Preve officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, on the Child Road, Malone, NY. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. in Malone, NY.
