Shirley A. Bannon, 88, of Malone, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday May 26, 2021, at her home.
Born in Chateaugay, NY, February 13, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Myers and Marion Goodchild Santamore. She graduated from Franklin Academy, in Malone, NY, in 1952.
On June 27, 1953, she was united in marriage to Bernard J. Bannon, Jr. at St. Francis de Sales Church, in Roxbury, MA. He predeceased her on March 23, 2015.
Many years ago, Shirley was a clerk for Sears in Boston, MA. From 1972 until 1990, she assisted her husband, Bernard, with the daily operation and book keeping of their very successful dairy farm. After their retirement from the farm, Shirley was employed by Servant’s of Jesus and Mary in Trout River, NY. She retired many years ago.
Shirley enjoyed reading novels, puzzles, and travel. She was an avid walker into her eighties and a very devout Catholic. Her most cherished times were spent in Bradenton, FL, during the winter months and spending time with her family and friends. Her sense of humor will always be remembered.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Bruce and Stephanie Bannon of Malone, NY, Michael and Maureen Bannon of Jaffrey, NH, Dennis and Mary Bannon of Malone, NY, and Daniel Bannon and his companion, Miranda LaBrake of Constable, NY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Lloyd Walfield of Burke, NY, and Patricia and John Lamica of Constable, NY; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Phyllis Santamore of Constable, NY, and Michael and Jeanne Santamore of Malone, NY; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline Fleury of Malone, NY, and Joyce and Wendell Denny of Malone, NY; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Robert Santamore and one brother-in-law, Neil Fleury.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 4, 2021, at 10 a.m., at Notre Dame Church, in Malone, NY. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, in Malone, NY.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Malone Volunteer Fire Department or E.M.S. or to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
