Jean P. Eggleston, 88, of Malone, NY, passed away on Sunday morning, August 29, 2021, at her home, while under the loving care of her family, North Country Home Services, and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.
Jean was born in Malone, NY, on June 10, 1933, to the late William and Violet Griffin Perry. She attended local schools and graduated from Franklin Academy on June 27, 1950.
On June 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Cornelius P. Eggleston, the first and last love of her life, at St. John Bosco Church, in Malone, NY. Her husband passed away on July 23, 2008.
Jean was employed by Tru-Stitch Footwear in Malone for more than thirteen years. She began taking evening classes at North Country Community College and BOCES learning accounting and typing. She became employed by Monette Distributing and then by McCann Implements, where she held account clerk positions. She continued her career as an account clerk in 1988 when she was hired by the Franklin County Department of Social Services Accounting Department, a position that she loved, with many friends as her co-workers. She held this position for 10 years, and retired in 1998.
She was a communicant of St. John Bosco Church, in Malone, NY, and a life member of the Altar Rosary Society. For many years, her home was the kitchen stop for many of the priests at St. John Bosco for spaghetti. She and her husband worked the concession stand at St. John Bosco Bingo on Thursday evenings for many years. She continued to do this after his death with the help of her daughters.
Jean and her husband were Foster Parents for Catholic Charities. They cared for many babies until they received their “forever” homes.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brian C. Eggleston, Sr., and his companion Sharon (Marlow) Perault, Malone, NY, and Alan and Donalee (Bogett) Eggleston, Potsdam, NY; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Dale Prue, Constable, NY, Laurie and Gregory Dustin, Constable, NY, and Luci and Robert Pohl, Peoria, IL; one brother, Harold Perry, Sr., Malone, NY; one sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Peter Guibord, Plattsburgh, NY; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She leaves behind her beloved fur baby, Clancee.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Michael A. Perry, his wife Cheryl (Groth) Southard and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Pelkey and her husband Kenneth Pelkey, Mrs. Inez Jock and her husband James Jock, Mrs. Constance Palmosina, Mrs. Carol Betters Landry and her husbands Robert Betters and Francis Landry, and Mrs. April Paquin and her husband Norman Paquin, sisters-in-law Mrs. Joan (Miller) Perry and Ms. Joan (Spinner) Ritchie, and a brother-in-law Wayne Spinner Sr.
Calling hours will be Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, Malone, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 12:00 PM, at Notre-Dame Church, Malone, NY. Burial will be in St. John Bosco Cemetery, in Malone, NY. A Celebration of her Life gathering will be held following burial, on Friday, at the St. John Bosco Church Hall, now known as the Living Hope Church Hall on Rennie Street, Malone.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Alice Ballard Fund of Hospice of the North Country, Inc. in Malone, NY.
