Obituary of Gertrude A. LaBrake

Gertude A. LaBrake, age 79, of Malone, NY, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at U.V.M. Health Network; Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y. Born in Malone, August 20, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Rosalie Deon Bashaw, Sr. She attended local schools and worked for a time as a home health aide at North Country Home Services. Many years ago, she was united in marriage to Charles LaBrake at St. Helen's Church in Chasm Falls, N.Y. He survives. She enjoyed bingo, singing and dancing and especially being with and taking care of her children and grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles and Kari LaBrake, John LaBrake and Wade LaBrake, all of Malone; four daughters and a son-in-law, Helen Scidmore and Rose LaBrake both of California, Shiela and Robert Gardner of Bellmont, N.Y. and Melissa Lane of Malone, as well as several grand and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Bryant and James F. LaBrake; her four brothers Francis, Ronald, Benjamin and Abraham Bashaw; and four sisters, Janice Jarvis, Carolyn Bennor, Diane Bashaw-Santillo and Brenda McCray. There are no calling hours. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Malone on Harison Place with the Rev. Roger Preve officiating. Burial will be in New St. Joseph's Cemetery, on the Child Road in Malone, NY. Donations may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church in Malone, N.Y.
