Obituary of Thomas J. Smiddy

Thomas Smiddy, 53, and his life partner Kerry Jacobs, 48, of Fort Covington NY, passed away suddenly at their campsite in Tupper Lake, NY on Saturday October 23, 2021. Thomas attended Salmon River Central School, where afterwards he worked for General Motors for 11 years. In his last years, he was employed with MJ Lerouxs Oil Company where he was everyone’s favorite fuel delivery driver. Thomas leaves behind six children- Taylor White(Tyler M), Tyler Smiddy, Logan Smiddy(Melanie S.), Jehnsen Jacobs(Jordan F.), Braxtyn Jacobs, and Aidan Smiddy (Hannah M). Five grandchildren, Logan Smiddy JR., Willow Jacobs, Lyrik Smiddy, Rowan Fleury, and an unborn grandson that is yet to be named. Thomas also leaves many nieces and nephews- Tiara K, Kody G, Myles M, Kora M, Kori M, Eliza R, Kiera L, Rider L, Owen M, Mia M, and Arianna M. They also leave behind two great nieces- Ruby K and Mylah M. Thomas is survived by his mother Annette Smiddy and two sisters Tamera Smiddy and Brenda Smiddy. Thomas was predeceased by his father Paul Smiddy. Thomas enjoyed his days off spending time with his family and friends. Thomas was a helping hand to many, whether he knew you or not. Tom was a member of the Fort Covington Volunteer Fire Department for around 10 years. He also loved to spend many early mornings in the field hunting. Thomas enjoyed going to Township 19 where him and Kerry camped for the past 8+ years. It was Township 19 where Tom and Kerry found their camp family, whom they loved and cared for so much. Visitations may be made from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington, N.Y.
