Obituary of Bruce Allen Gonia

Bruce Allen Gonia, 73, of North Bangor, N.Y., passed away on October 22, 2021, peacefully at his home in Tellico Plains, TN., where he had recently moved. Born in Malone, N.Y. on December 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Francis and Lorraine McCaffrey Gonia. He graduated from Brushton-Moira Central School in 1969. In 1975, he married Bonita French. He helped on the family dairy farm for many years, served in the United States Army and retired from the Franklin County Highway Department after thirty eight years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Angela and Stacy Taylor of Tellico Plains, TN.; two granddaughters, Kristin Taylor of Tellico Plains and Torrie Daniels and her husband Kyle of Madisonville, TN; two great granddaughters; Braelee and Emery Daniels of Madisonville; his siblings; Gary Gonia and his companion Brenda French, Carl and Debra Gonia, Dale and Sharon Gonia, Anne Gonia, Donna and Scott Maness all of North Bangor, Lee Gonia of Hinesburg VT., Stephen Gonia and his companion Linda Hass of Massena, Kevin and Michelle Gonia of Malone, N.Y.; an Aunt, Sister Martha Marie McCaffery of Latham, N.Y., (who passed away on October 31, 2021); Uncles Pat and Connie McCaffrey of Massena, N.Y. and Ray and Faye McCaffrey of Brushton, N.Y.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, his parents and a sister Gloria Gonia. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at Stevens Cemetery in Skerry (Brandon), N.Y., with Father Ray Moreau officiating.
