John F. Dixon, 77, of Malone, N.Y., passed away on November 10, 2021 at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone following a brave battle with cancer.
Born on May 16, 1944, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary Breckenridge Dixon.
John graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, class of 1963, and attended the Massena School of Business. He served in the National Guard from 1962-1968. He spent his career at ALCOA Massena Operations, retiring in 2006 after 40 years.
On July 26, 1966, he married the former Faith C. Miller at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Malone. She predeceased him on December 3, 2019.
John was an avid reader.
He leaves behind a step son and his wife, Terry and Mary Fisher of Malone; a step daughter and her husband, Tina and Dan Armstrong of Westville, N.Y.; his brothers William and Benjamin Dixon, both of Malone; his sister Mary Jane Dunn of Fort Myers, FL.; four step grandchildren, Adam Fisher, April Wood, Tristin Fisher and Ethan Fisher, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother Walter Dixon.
Calling hours will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16th 2021 at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone, N.Y. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Father Steven Murray presiding. Burial will be held in the New St. Joseph’s Cemetery on the Childs Road in Malone, N.Y.
