Obituary of Lenard C. Smith

Lenard C. Smith, 79, of Nanuet, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, after a long illness. Lenard was born on February 21, 1943 in Malone, NY to Robert and Grace Mills Smith, who both have predeceased him, but grew up in Sag Harbor, NY. He was a graduate of Pierson High School in Sag Harbor and received his BA from Harpur College. He joined the US Army in 1965, where he later received an Honorable Discharge in September of 1968. Lenard’s career started with the NYC Dept of Social Services in 1969 as a caseworker with the Division of Homemaker Service progressing to Senior Case Supervisor and retiring from the Bureau of Children’s Services, Bronx office in 2002. Lenard is survived by his daughter, Christine Smith and his granddaughter, Roselyn Williams of Nyack, NY, and his younger sister, Gail Euvino of Boca Raton, FL and Sag Harbor, NY. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces He was predeceased by an older sister, Janet Connor, brother, Robert Smith, Jr., and twin brother, Loren Smith. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday , August 13th at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Chateaugay, NY. Chateaugay American Legion will present honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
