Obituary of William D. Sexton, Jr.
~William “Bill” D. Sexton, Jr., 64, of Owls Head, NY., passed away unexpectedly Thursday night, July 6, 2017, at the U.V.M. Health Care Network Alice Hyde Medical Center, in Malone, NY., with his loving family by his side.
Born in Wingdale, NY., August 17, 1952, he was the son of the late William D. and Lucille A. Saffomilla Sexton, Sr.
He served in the United States Army from November 1971 until his Honorable Discharge in May of 1975.
On August 1, 1987, he was united in marriage to the former Evelyn McQuinn in St. Regis Falls, NY. She survives.
Bill was employed by several construction companies including Legacy Construction Co. He later served as manager of Titus Mountain for seven years. He also operated Bill’s Monitor Heater Service for many years, helping families out in their time of need, on Christmas or in the worst North Country weather. He was always ready to help a friend or stranger.
He was a past member of the Owls Head -Mountain View Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. He was a volunteer driver for the D.A.V. bus. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, reading, gardening, cooking and spending precious time with his family. He loved to tell stories and keep his friends entertained.
Along with his wife, Evelyn, he is survived by three daughters and two sons in law, Melissa and Gary Van Essendelft of Kennesaw, GA., Emily and Adam Gokey of Malone, NY., and Kaitlin Sexton and her companion, Shawn Wood of Saranac, NY., one sister and brother in law, Linda and Robert Sager of Port St. Lucie, FL., four grandchildren, Hunter and Annabelle Van Essendelft and Livinia and Levi Gokey and two nephews, Jason Sager and Gabriel Sabourin.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 14, 2017, from 9 until 11:30 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone, NY. A Graveside Service with full Military Services will be held at Noon in St. Helen’s Cemetery, in Chasm Falls, NY., with the Rev. Thomas Higman officiating.
