Richard L. Hammond, 90, died at home in Constable, N.Y., on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
Born February 10, 1933 in Braintree, VT to Alec and Marion (Kerry) Hammond, he attended Vermont Country School and was a proud Korean War Veteran.
He was united in marriage to Edith Dupra on December 10, 1955 in Constable, N.Y.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Edith Hammond, sons; Dale (Donna) Hammond of Malone, Daryl (Heather) Hammond of Constable, daughters; Susan (Michael) St. Onge of Glen Roberts, Ontario and Pamela Hammond of Constable, and one brother; William (Becky) Hammond of Malone, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Robert and wife Yvonne Hammond and Alvin Hammond, sisters Nina Tucker, Margret McDonald and Nancy and husband Leo Bertrand.
He was a former member of the River Valley Antique Tractor Pullers Club, pulling up until the age of 89. He was the Highway Superintendent of Constable for 20 years, having been uncontested for all twenty years.
All who knew him knew him for his excellent mechanical skills, wise sense of humor and strong mindset.
At his request there will be no services or public gathering.
