Gary was such a good and kind neighbor! He would take breaks from his gardening to play catch with our dogs, and even took care of them and kept an eye on our house during the many times we went on vacation. He always shared the produce of his garden and chickens with us. We were always busy with working and raising 3 kids, and one winter day I came home and he had chopped all the ice off of our entire driveway for us, and it was a big job! I always marveled at how long and hard he would work outside year round, raking the sand out of his lawn by hand in the spring, shoveling his driveway all winter, all the gardening/landscaping, etc. I'm a generation & a half younger and I honestly couldn't keep up with him. And always with that wry sense of humor and wit and wisdom when we talked. Twenty years of our lives are linked to Gary and we will always remember and miss him!
