We regretfully announce the passing of our beloved Laurie A. Melo of Bombay, NY on August 19th, 2024, in Plattsburgh, NY. Laurie passed away surrounded by her family members who gathered from across the country to be by her side in her last hours of life.
Laurie was one of the most loving, compassionate, and charismatic women to ever walk the face of this earth and our family was blessed to have her raise, nurture, and mentor two generations of our children. Laurie was an avid homemaker, chef in her home, and a pillar of the Salmon River Central School where she was employed for over 30 years. She was known for her spunkiness, humor, and compassionate nature. Laurie was the center of her family’s universe always ensuring that traditions were kept and family united for all holidays and occasions
Laurie was predeceased by her father Carmine Zerella, mother Leta Zerella, brothers Emilio and Carmine Zerella, and sister Joanne Cruz. She is survived by her life partner Dale Brockway of Bombay, NY , brother Kenneth Zerella of Melbourne FL, sister Diana Dawson of Ingelside ON and children: Darlene Melo of East Stroudsburg PA, Tara Melo-Winters of Chateaugay NY, Laurie Donahue of Bombay, NY, Kelvis Melo of Las Vegas, NV and her partner’s sons Dean Brockway of Westville, NY and Nathan Brockway Rush, NY as well as 8 great grandchildren in total.
A Graveside Service will be held at New Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Covington, NY on Monday September 30th, 2024 at 11 a.m.
