Gisele Boulais
(BOMBAY) Gisele Boulais passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2023 under the care of family and Hospice of the North Country, surrounded by many loved ones.
Gisele was born in Granby, Quebec on November 14, 1937 to the late Leo and Gertrude (Potvin) Boulais. She attended local schools and received her teaching certificate from The New York State College for Teachers at Albany. She began her career as a Latin and French teacher in Richfield Springs, NY before dedicating nearly 36 years of teaching at Salmon River Central.
First and foremost, Gisele’s family was her priority – she was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She was a devoted member and communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bombay and was active in the Altar Rosary Society and St. Joseph’s Society. She was responsible for the beautiful flower arrangements that decorated the church for many years. Gisele was an active member of the community, serving as a member of the Bombay Town Board and enjoyed her time as a member of the Bombay Historical Society. She was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Yves & Anna Boulais. Treasured memories will forever be in the hearts of her sisters Pauline (Edward) Van Epps and Evelyn (Philip) Dow. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews- Theresa (Jon) Pontius, Valerie (Walter) Hapeman, Timothy Boulais, Marcel (Carleen) Boulais, Andrew (Tiffany) Boulais, Jeffrey (Carrie) Boulais, David (Charlotte) Van Epps, Denise (Jeffrey) Moriarty, Sharron Dow, Stephen (Patricia) Dow and many great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington, N.Y.
Calling hours will be held on April 25th from 4-7 p.m. at the Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 26th at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Fort and burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bombay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Bombay Historical Society, or the Bombay Volunteer Fire Department.
