Obituary of Elaine Martha Lucas

Elaine Martha Lucas, 83, of Fort Covington, N.Y., passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023, at North Country Nursing Home in Massena, N.Y. Elaine was born on April 9, 1940, in Cornwall General Hospital in Cornwall, Ont., the daughter of the late Roger Henry Lucas and Ethel Margaret Ashley. She graduated from Fort Covington High School, class of 1957, and then attended Ogdensburg Business School, where she majored in bookkeeping. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years until retirement. Her hobbies included knitting, gardening, ceramics and baking. She loved her animals. An hour of visitation will be held from 11am-12pm on Wednesday, September 13 at Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel at noon, with The Rev. Howard Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fort Covington. Donations in her memory may be made to the North Country Animal Shelter in Malone, Fort Covington Fire or E. M. S. or the Fort Covington Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington.
